Her laughter is loud and contagious; and you can never have enough of it. Her temper is firm and strong like the spirit of basketball (or muscles of basketball players, ha!). Her charisma is gleaming and mesmerising; and her life is colourful, diverse and cosmopolitan. She is a basketball player in high heels and red lips. You think it’s impossible, don’t you? Just watch the “Time out Žalgiris” programme on the Žalgiris TV and you will see… Today RENT BOUTIQUE presents another modern muse, ambassador of the Rent Boutique project, Žalgiris Communications and Marketing Manager and basketball player Ms Martyna Marmaitė.

How does your day look like?
My life hardly ever has any routine in it, and all of my days are different. Nonetheless, whether it’s an ordinary day in the office or a day at home every morning starts with a cup of coffee. The saying “First I drink THE coffee then I do THE things” suits me perfectly.
I endeavour to exercise every day, be it riding a bicycle to/from work, having a walk which is often at least 10 km or going to a gym. And sleep is of immense importance to me. My mood depends on it. Well, if it’s a Žalgiris competition day, it’s full of waiting, preparations and even stress. That said, happiness and motivation for new projects come at the same time.
Dress by Herve Leger. Hire price: EUR 149. Value: EUR 2,149.
Tell us about the work with the Žalgiris team
I work as a Marketing and Communications Manager at the Žalgiris. I came to Lithuania because of this job; it was interesting to put myself to a test and live in Kaunas after a nearly ten-year break… The Žalgiris team is well-balanced. Everyone works hand in hand and put their best efforts.
How did your life look like before returning to live in Kaunas?
I spent my teenage years in Denmark. I came here together with my family when I was sixteen. The first year in a Danish school amongst Danish-speaking peers was truly hard. It was a psychological challenge for me as I have never been one of the silent ones; hence, instead of the prattle so common to me, I had to listen and learn much. It was followed by the international school where I lived and studied together with people from around the world for three years. This experience turned me into an open-minded personality. I’m delighted I learnt being free and positive in Denmark.
London. I came here with my best friend from Denmark, studied sports management and enjoyed life in one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. For me London comes hand in hand with long walks; if we were able, we would never miss an opportunity to walk past Big Ben of the Tower Bridge. It is also about memorable parties, cosy gatherings in restaurants and cafés and high-quality food (Oh God, I adore it…). There is plenty of everything in London; you will get what you want… Delicious coffee, trendy stores and food markets…
If my personality had been shaped in Copenhagen, I got acquainted with the adult life in London. Here I had my major experiences, saddest disappointments, joys, stunning adventures and friends that I would not exchange into anyone or anything else.
Then London must be the city where it is always good to be back, right?
Certainly. Along with Ibiza.
How would you describe your dressing style?
In Scandinavia I learnt not taking things too seriously. If I like going for a walk in trainers and yoga pants on weekends, then I wouldn’t think twice to do so. On the other hand, like many women, I like dressing up and putting effort. However, it’s important to me that the overall look was natural; I like the aesthetics of effortless. I feel extremely well in both dresses and high heels as well as in trainers and yoga pants.
What garments would I find in your wardrobe?
Many pencil skirts and even more tailored trousers in different colours. I adore rough and eye-catching neck jewellery, but I hardly ever wear any bracelets at all. I’ve also got a significant collection of trainers (always has to be Nike).
Bomber jacket by Tory Burch . Hire price: EUR 59. Value: EUR 575.
How many dresses do you own?
For the sake of curiosity, I have counted 24.
Items that you couldn’t live without.
Trainers, comfortable heels and a phone.
What’s your favourite colour?
All shades of grey (and it’s got nothing to do with the books or the film).
Top3 beauty items.
Face cream, loose mineral powder and coconut (body) oil.
Your beauty ritual that you have on a regular basis.
I like natural remedies; I use coffee sludge for body peeling and coconut oil for moisturising the skin; the skin becomes very soft and smells wonderful.
Alexis jumpsuit. Hire price: EUR 89. Value: EUR 715.
Top film and book.
Film: Law Abiding Citizen

What inspires you to enjoy the moments of life?
I’m mostly inspired by different conferences; TEDxLondon was one of them; I even had trouble falling asleep afterwards. In general, I’m motivated by sports; it revitalises mind and helps enjoy life. Life is beautiful!

What do you think about the Rent Boutique project?
Rent Boutique is something similar to your best friend. It’s like borrowing a dress from her wardrobe, only that the wardrobe is very big. The concept of rent has been known for ages, but RENT BOUTIQUE is all about renting unique clothes, i.e. clothes that have been selected by professionals and that are relevant these days. I think that the concept of reduced consumption is becoming increasingly popular and has many advantages attached to it. Well, we ladies like to dress and dress up; and this is no secret at all.
